Benefit-eligibility requirements are as follows:
Hourly Pharmacists (full time) – are benefit-eligible on the first of the month following their hire date.
Hourly Pharmacists (part-time) – are benefit-eligible on the first of the month following their hire date.
Salaried Pharmacy Managers – are benefit-eligible on the first of the month following their hire date.
Health Care
Benefit-eligible Costco employees may choose from different health care options, ranging from a highly managed care environment to one which they have the freedom to choose their own medical services, physicians, and facilities. Over 80% of our employees take advantage of our HMO plan, which is one of the best in the industry.
Dental Care
Benefit-eligible Costco employees may choose from two different dental plans in most US states, ranging from a managed care plan with no deductibles to a premium plan that allows more freedom of choice.
Pharmacy Program
Nearly all Costco warehouses have pharmacies in-house, making it easy to pick up prescriptions at work. Benefit-eligible employees' co-payments can be as little as $3 for generic medications and generally run no more than $25 for the most expensive branded drugs. Birth control pills are included.
Vision Program
Most Costco warehouses have an in-house optical center, making it easy to access this benefit. For benefit-eligible employees, the program pays $45 toward an optical exam, which covers the typical exam performed at Costco. (A contact lens exam runs more). Generous annual allowances are provided toward the purchase of glasses and contacts.
401 (K) Plan
Created to help employees plan for a comfortable retirement, Costco matches employee contributions, 50 cents on the dollar for the first $1000 each year to a maximum company match of $500 a year. In addition, once an employee meets the eligibility requirements, the company adds an additional amount to each employee's account every year, which is based on the employee's years of service and eligible earnings.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
All Costco employees whose families qualify can take advantage of tax savings by enrolling in the dependent care voucher plan. This allows you to pay for day care for children under 13 as well as adult care with pre-tax collars and can save you from $750 to $2000 a year.
Employee Assistance Program
All employees are eligible for this mental health phone screening and referral program on the first day of employment.
